#Cakethat Round 1 – Signature Bake

Posted 3 September, 2014 in Competitions

The #cakethat blogger challenge is underway and as you’ll soon see, we’ve had some wonderfully creative entries. For the first task, we asked our 5 baking bloggers to show us their signature bake – their favourite recipe to turn to when they need to impress!

The task facing our judge, 2012 Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite, was not an easy one, but after much consideration he’s managed to select his first star blogger. Here’s what our judge had to say:

Aleelily – Confetti Popcorn. “Fab idea, great for bridal showers or a decadent film night treat, but perhaps a little simple.”

Lavender and Lovage – Cherry Cake. “Fun writer with a true passion, and great photography.”

Runner up 2: SheCooksSheEats – Sweet Potato, Goats Cheese & Spinach Plaits. “a gorgeous combination of flavours. Good to see a savoury option as a signature bake. Great plaiting technique.”

Runner up 1: MikeBubbleTea – Chocolate Cupcakes with Blackberry. “a really great flavour combination. Blackberries and chocolate complement each other and the piping is exquisite.”

Winner: Cocktails In Teacups – Salted Caramel Cake. “I love how this cake has a bold element of salted caramel, which is beautifully balanced with the simplicity of whipped cream. A great signature bake!”

Congratulations Amy, you almost had us trying to lick that salted caramel off the screen (almost… we promise). Next up is the technical challenge, where the bloggers take inspiration from our range of scrumptious Euphorium cakes. Be sure to check back soon and if you’ve been inspired to recreate one of these recipes, we would love to see – tweet us a picture @euphoriumbakery.
