#CakeThat Round 2 – Technical Challenge

Posted 24 September, 2014 in Competitions

There was no time to rest after the Signature Bake round for our #CakeThat bloggers, with an even trickier round 2 challenge to prepare for. For this task we asked our bloggers to show us their baking skills and recreate one of our scrumptious Euphorium Bakery cakes, in the Technical Challenge.

Once again our judge, 2012 Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite, had the extremely difficult task of choosing the winning star blogger. After lots of deliberating over the four cake entries…and lots of dribbling on our part… our judge had his say:

Runner Up 2: Milk Bubble Tea – Fruit Tart. “The tart looks really impressive and neatly done, though I would have liked to see homemade pastry.”

Runner Up 1: Cocktails in Teacups – Decadent Raspberry & Chocolate Cheesecake. “A lovely looking cheesecake with a sponge base rather than biscuits. Looks like something I’d devour in seconds!”

Winner: She Cooks She Eats – White Chocolate Covered Devil’s Food Cake. “A great recipe, gorgeous contrast between the dark cake and the light frosting. Also impressed how she couldn’t reproduce original as didn’t have tools, but managed to work around that and create something gorgeous!”

Congratulations Amy, you are our Star Baker! Your technical prowess blew us all away with your very worthy double act to our own Euphorium White Chocolate Marquis. Next week will be our final task of the competition, the Showstopper Challenge, where our bloggers will be asked to make their best creative masterpiece in a bid to become our #CakeThat winner! Be sure to come back soon for the final challenge, and if you’ve been inspired you to try any of our #CakeThat entries we would love to see – tweet us a picture @euphoriumbakery.
